Russell Hall Primary School

Developing lifelong learners

We believe that every child is unique and special and our job is to begin to identify the talents and potential that lie within our children and shape and build on these to enable children to be the best that they can be.

Our School

Welcome to Russell Hall Primary School and Nursery.  We are a long established school in the heart of the village of Queensbury.  Generation after generation have taken their first steps in learning within our walls and the school is characterised by the happy, confident and outgoing children.

I am pleased to be part of a dedicated team of Staff, Parents and Governors who are working closely together to ensure that every child in our care gets the best possible education.  We believe that every child is unique and special and our job is to begin to identify the talents and potential that lie within our children and shape and build on these to enable children to be the best that they can be.

This is achieved through a close and trusting relationship between home and school, working together at all ltimes to promote the vision, aims and ethos of the school and community.  We work hard to create an atmosphere of mutual respect where we have high expectations of all children and of ourselves.  We endeavour to make school an exciting place for children to be, by delivering a creative and inspiring curriculum, enriched in a wide variety of ways to deepen children’s understanding of what they are taught.  We strive to remove barriers to children’s learning by closely tracking children’s progress and working as a team to support all aspects of the child.

May I extend a warm welcome to all visitors to our website and should you wish to visit school please do not hesitate to ring and make an appointment.

Our values

To have a support culture of openness and honesty, where great minds discuss ideas and all talents are recognised and pursued. To aspire to be exceptional at everything not just academically, with confidence at the core, inspiring the talent within. To create and develop the best in everyone; where every child is respected and valued.

At Russell Hall we are developing young people of the future who will have the skills to enable them to be ‘lifelong learners’.

We believe that collaboration, curiosity, perseverance, resourcefulness, respect and reflectiveness, along with our exciting curriculum are the keys to this aim.

Our history

We are proud of the long history that our school has.

Queensbury is a large village in the metropolitan borough of Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. Perched on a high vantage point above Halifax, Clayton and Thornton and overlooking Bradford itself, Queensbury is one of the highest parishes in England, with fine views beyond the West Yorkshire conurbation to the hills of Brontë Country and the Yorkshire Dales to the north and north west. It had a population of 8,718 in 2001 which increased to 16,273 in the 2011 Census.

Queensbury is most famous as being the home of Black Dyke Mills, and the Black Dyke Band.

“Pupils feel safe and are safe. Parents also report their children are safe and happy. Bullying is rare and dealt with effectively when it occurs. There are high expectations of every pupil. As a result, behaviour is a strength of the school. Pupils conduct themselves well. Relationships between pupils and adults are positive. Pupils are engaged and enthusiastic. They want to do well and value their learning opportunities. This helps them to progress.”
